NOTE: Non-Union Singers will be seen as schedule permits.  Registration begins at 1pm and concludes at 3 p.m.

Preparation:
Brief song selection, minimum 16 bars,  Pop-Rock Style. Songs from the show are welcome.
Dancers - Women should bring character shoes. Men should bring character, dance sneakers or jazz shoes.
All should be prepared to dance barefoot.  Seeking Dancers who sing.

Starlight Theatre is actively seeking a multi-cultural cast and utilizes non-traditional casting in their productions when ethnicity is not germane to the role or overall production.



Teen Auditions:
Monday, March 19
Registration begins at 3 p.m., ready to dance at 4 p.m.
Starlight is also seeking males and females ages 15-18 to perform with this summer’s “Blue Star All-Star Chorus” in AIDA.

Requirements / Preparation:
  • Must attend a Blue Star Awards participating school (click for a list of Blue Star schools)
  • Must attend both singing and dancing auditions (singing auditions will follow dancing auditions)
  • Bring sheet music and be prepared to sing 16 bars of a legitimate Broadway song or a contemporary pop song
  • Résumé and headshot (or recent school or family photo) required
  • Wear jazz shoes for the dance auditions

Character Breakdowns

AIDA  -  A beautiful Nubian Princess, daughter of King Amonasro, who truly loves her people and will sacrifice everything for their happiness. A woman with a strong constitution and dignity.
(Low F - High F, Mezzo-Soprano)
 
RADAMES  -  A handsome, Egyptian Army Captain, son of Zoser, who enjoys the adventures of war without realizing its devestation.  Engaged to Amneris for the last nine years.  (A flat - B flat, Tenor)

AMNERIS  -  A beautiful, if materialistic, Egyptian Princess, daughter of the Pharaoh. Engaged to Radames. Considered to be the leader of all fashion and other things material, she has both an insipid and a strong side to her personality.  (Low E - High F, Mezzo-Soprano)

MEREB  -  A young Nubian slave who is in charge of Radames' household. Although working for the Egyptians he remains faithful to his Nubian heritage and dreams of a better life for his people.  (G - B flat, Tenor)

ZOSER  -  A manipulative and evil Chief Minister of Egypt, father of Radames.  He is power-hungry and lives without scruples.  (F – F, Baritone)

NEHEBKA  -  A Nubian slave.  Maiden to AIDA and fiercely loyal.  (A – D, Mezzo-Soprano)

PHARAOH  -  Leader of Egypt and father of Amneris.  Sickly, and soon to die passing his throne on to Radames.   (No Songs)

AMONASRO  -  King of Nubia and father of Aida. An honorable and peaceful man.  (No Songs)

MALE ENSEMBLE - Males: Low G - High A   Must be strong dancers

FEMALE ENSEMBLE  -  Low B flat - High A flat  Must be strong dancers
