Accountant

Starlight Theatre is seeking an energetic, dynamic and motivated Accountant to assist with the disbursements side of the accounting function, including both Payroll and Accounts Payable. This position focuses primarily on ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments to vendors and employees. Group Sales Manager

Starlight Theatre is seeking a Group Sales Manager to cultivate growth in Starlight Theatre’s group sales revenue during the Broadway season. Additional responsibilities include strengthening existing and building new corporate and community relationships for Starlight.

Primary roles of this position are to (1) establish and attain annual group ticket sales and revenue goals, (2) develop annual strategic marketing plan for group sales, (3) plan, direct and track all marketing efforts for group sales, (4) manage the Starlight experience for hundreds of groups each season, (5) continually generate new group sales leads through multiple channels, and (6) represent Starlight at functions organized by various community groups, such as local Chambers of Commerce, Greater Kansas City Attractions Association and the Broadway League.

The successful candidate will possess strong sales, organizational, time management and communication skills. Creative problem-solving skills, strong public-speaking skills, and a proven ability to highlight and sell product benefits and features are critical attributes as well. Previous experience with creation and design of marketing support materials, including brochures, ads, flyers and e-communications, is a plus, as is the ability to manage multiple projects under deadline constraints. GuestASSIST Team member

This is a key position in the Starlight Theatre Operations department, providing event day Guest services and ensuring a world-class experience for Starlight Theatre Guests. This position assists the House Manager, Director of Operations, Ticket Office and Volunteers in ensuring the ultimate in Guest satisfaction. Operations - Event Housekeeping

The EVENT HOUSEKEEPING Associate’s duties include but are not limited to: interacting with Guests, cleaning and stocking of restrooms, keeping the grounds clear of debris and spills of all kinds, replenishing program book supplies, emptying waste and recycling receptacles, clearing and cleaning public outdoor dining areas, performing incidental repairs and other tasks that enhance the Guest experience during an event. All Associates will embody our framework for success as defined in Starlight’s Guest Interaction Guidelines. Each Associate will embrace the four key drivers of Guest satisfaction:
  • Make each Guest feel special
  • Treat each Guest as an individual
  • Pay attention to each Guests children (or partner/spouse/companion(s))
  • Be able to answer any and all Guest questions
This position works during events only.

Starting pay for this position is $8.50/hr.

Operations - Grounds/ Maintenance

The GROUNDS / MAINTENANCE Associate’s duties include, but are not limited to: preventive maintenance, routine maintenance (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, light carpentry, metal fabrication, small engines, etc.), waste and recycling removal, restroom and general facility cleaning (including power washing, scrubbing, fire hosing and sanitizing), event setup & breakdown and assisting other departments and projects as they arise to maintain the Theatre in pristine shape at all times. This job requires the candidate be able to lift heavy materials and objects, work outdoors in all weather, work independently as well as part of a team. In addition, the successful candidate must be self-motivated, flexible, a problem solver and have the ability to work early mornings, days, weekends, holidays and extended hours. All Associates will embrace our framework for success as defined in Starlight’s Guest Interaction Guidelines. Forklift certification, as well as a safe operating record, is preferred but not necessary.

Starting pay for this position is $8.75/hr. – upon successful completion of an Associates’ seasonal employment term, this position is eligible for a $.60/hr bonus for all non-OT hours worked over the course of the summer.

Teaching Artists

Are you a theatre artist interested in using your skills and talents to guide metro area youth through the amazing world of theatre? If so, Starlight's Education Department is always seeking the best of professional arts educators to utilize as instructors for Starlight Theatre Academy classes, held each fall and spring. We are currently building a roster of teaching artists for upcoming camps, workshops, classes, residency programs and more. We are seeking candidates with acting, singing and dance experience as well as technical theatre skills.
